Jet Li is arguably the first
Kung Fu star to match the legendary Bruce Lee in front
of camera, and in real life Kung Fu skills. Before taking
up acting he was a Wushu Master and this is why his
films bring an edge of reality to fight scenes that
would otherwise be simple choreography.
Jet Li made dozens of Chinese Kung Fu films mainly playing
the part of Wong Fei Hong, a legend of the real history
of Kung Fu in China. You may have first noticed him
for his superb performance in Lethal Weapon 4, however
he usually plays the rolls of 'Good Guy' and 'Avenger'.
His latest films have a far more gritty theme and relate
to serious interpretations of myths and legends. Warlords
is one such, and the excellent Forbidden
Kingdom. |
