Pang Long - 庞龙

The Title track of the album of the same name "You are My Rose" has become a Chinese Standard, which is usually known as 'Ni Shi Wo De Mei Gui Hua'. Given that line of Mandarin, you should be able to sing about half of this catchy song immediately!

This actually refers to the Chinese practice of sending a beloved girl 999 red roses, which is a proposal of marriage - and Chinese people actually still do this to this very day!

Pang Long tried to retire a few years ago, but was constantly requested to make guest appearances. As a result, he has given up retirement and is now busy working on new songs.

Pang Long is currently one of the most famous recording artists in Mainland China. His first single "Two Butterflies," from the album "Two Scalewings," was released in late 2004 and accumulated nearly 1.5 million legal ringtone downloads in China in one month (May 2005) as well as becoming the number one most requested Karaoke songs.

Born in Northeast China, Pang Long studied guitar all throughout his teenage years. His father wanted him to concentrate on his education so one day he threw Pang Long's guitar into the trash. It took a little while, but he began playing music again after his father's passing.

Today, he is a versatile musician in guitar, bass, piano and voice. Having self-produced a one-song demo, Pang Long was signed to Beijing Birdman Entertainment Co. (Nan He Wendou; Chang Hai) in 1999 and soon after released his first album "Li Li."

During the SARS outbreak in 2003 when all live performances in China were halted, he devoted most of his time to teaching voice and writing new songs. After the enormous success of "Two Scalewings" in 2005, Birdman released his third album "You Are My Rose" in January 2006 featuring the hit single of the same name.
